Avocado Oil : from superfood to super oil for stronger hair

If there is one fruit that should be in your kitchen at all times, it should be avocado.
Avocado is considered as one of the most nutrient-dense foods that you can find, and is described as a Superfood. No wonder why it is such a popular fruit among people living a healthy lifestyle. Some celebrities swear by it making sure it is part of their diet.

Avocado is not only good for your guts. Its high-fat content can help you to get beautiful and strong hair.

We’re going to tell you more about it, but first, let’s find out more about the fruit itself.

About Avocado

Avocado, or Persea Americana from its botanical name, is originally from Central Mexico, and grows out avocado trees.  It is now cultivated in many countries with either tropical or Mediterranean climates.

Avocados vary in shapes and colours, from pear-shaped to round, from green to black.
The skin can be either smooth or bumpy like an alligator, hence why it is often called alligator pear.  Hass avocado is the most popular and largely found in stores.

Packed in fatty acids, vitamins and minerals

Avocado is a fantastic fruit, full of healthy nutrients.  It contains mainly fatty acids like oleic acid (omega 9) which reduces inflammation, and linoleic acid (omega 6).
In terms of vitamins and minerals, avocado shines with high content in vitamins A, B5, C & E but also biotin, magnesium and zinc.
All of these can be found in avocado oil which is obtained after cold-pressing the pulp.  This gives an antioxidant role to avocado oil, which can reduce inflammation.

Avocado Oil

You surely now realise why avocado oil should be included into your hair routine. Let’s see in more detail !

  •  Nourished and softer hair

Avocado oil is a lightweight oil that penetrates deeply into your hair. Dry and brittle hair definitely benefit from its regular use as it prevents the hair from drying out by locking moisture inside, thanks to the vitamin A. Your hair will become softer and more manageable.

  • Prevents breakage

If you want to prevent any hair breakage, then applying avocado oil regularly should be the solution for you. The oil seals the cuticles and coats the hair strands with a thin layer which can prevent from breaking.
Besides, your detangling process would become easier as the vitamin E, biotin and fatty acids smooth and condition your strands. Start by applying avocado oil on your ends, then gently detangle.

  •  Healthy scalp for healthy growth

Massaging your scalp with avocado oil can create an excellent environment for healthy growth as it stimulates blood circulation and unclogs blocked follicles.
The biotin encourages hair growth while the vitamins moisturise dry, flaky scalp and eliminate dandruff.

  •  Promotes shinier hair

The fatty acids contained in avocado oil will give more shine to your hair while taming frizz.

Shiny hair

Although avocado oil is generally considered as safe to use, we would advise you to do a patch test on your skin first.

In case of redness or discomfort around tested area, please stop using it and look for different oil.
